How to Marker - This is the pride and joy of all paintball players. Whether it's a Tippmann custom 98, Paintball Pistols, Sniper Paintball Guns or an Angel Paintball Gun. They require almost legendary care at times. And at other times they are angrily thrown aside. Most manufacturers attempt to make a solid product and some of them make a fantastic product.
The 4 main componants:
How to Marker Note: Paintball Trigger is another componant but is not usually considered a seperate piece and almost always comes with the Marker itself (while the other 3 can be sold seperately)
The marker (paintball gun) is what paintball players do battle with. It is the one piece of equipment that no game can be played without. (Well, you need safety goggles too!)
How to Marker gives a good overview and provices some great links to other sites that have stuff we don't need to cover here. Tippmann custom 98, Paintball Pistols, Sniper Paintball Guns and an Angel Paintball Gun all use expanding gas (co2 or compressed air) to shoot the balls. Paintball players usually like to refer to the paintball gun as a Marker because they don't like their sport associated with dangerous or harmful hobbies. They stress that it's an extreme sport and quite safe (It is actually the safest sport in the world according to statistics on injuries!)
The paintball marker itself was originally designed to mark cattle and was used in a "duel" of sorts that marked the beginning of the sport that now grosses millions and is the most popular of all the extreme sports.
How to Marker: The speed of the ball exiting the Tippmann custom 98, Paintball Pistols, Sniper Paintball Guns or Angel Paintball Gun can be no more than 300 feet per second to be used in a tournament. Some guns like the Paintball Pistols often shoot slower and some very high end guns like the Angel Paintball Gun can be cranked to exceed the 300 feet per second boundry.
By the way that's 200 miles an hour! Although as the ball travels - due to it's shape it slows down considerably. But because of this... players wear safety equipment. At the very least goggles and very often an entire face mask is required. Also when not actually on a paintball field players must have a cover over the barrel of their paintball pistol, marker, angel paintball gun or whatever to prevent accidental firings.
At times players will wear a Tactical Paintball Vest for added protection and to hold different gear. If a player is wearing a Vest it will often hold a cleaning tool for the barrel and an allen wrench to do some emergecy maintenance on the Marker as well as a rag, and perhaps some food. The Tactical Paintball Vest is a favorite of Military scenario games which tend to be very long.
